Formation of the Executive Board – TORG Nigeria Founding Chapter (TORG-NG)

The Operating Room Global (TORG) is pleased to open a Call for Expressions of Interest for the formation of the Executive Board of the TORG Nigeria Founding Chapter (TORG-NG).

This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic, multidisciplinary leadership team dedicated to advancing surgical and perioperative care in Nigeria through innovation, research, education, advocacy, and strategic collaboration. The selected team will play a pivotal role in shaping the direction, visibility, and impact of the chapter nationally and within the TORG global network.

All roles are voluntary and will require a demonstrable commitment to initiative-based leadership, advocacy, and health systems strengthening.


Executive Board Roles and Responsibilities

Below is an overview of the positions open for application:

Chair

Provides overall leadership and strategic direction. Represents the chapter at national and international levels. Oversees coordination across all portfolios.

Vice Chair

Supports the Chair in all functions and acts in their capacity when required. Assists with stakeholder engagement and cross-team collaboration.

Secretary General

Responsible for coordinating meetings, documentation, and official communication. Maintains institutional memory and supports governance activities.

Deputy Secretary

Assists the Secretary General in all clerical, planning, and administrative tasks. Acts as liaison across working groups.

Programs Lead

Designs and manages the chapter’s programs, partnerships, and events. Ensures alignment with TORG’s strategic goals.

Advocacy and Policy Lead

Leads initiatives that promote safe surgery and perioperative care through policy engagement, community outreach, and stakeholder mobilization.

Research and Innovation Lead

Coordinates research initiatives and collaborative audits. Promotes evidence-based practices and surgical systems research.

Education and Training Lead

Oversees professional development efforts, training partnerships, workshops, and curriculum development relevant to perioperative care.

Communications and Media Lead

Manages the chapter’s visibility through digital platforms, newsletters, and public-facing materials. Drives social media strategy and media relations.

Treasurer

Manages financial planning, documentation of in-kind support, and sustainability strategy. Works closely with the Chair and Secretary General.

Regional Coordinators (North, South, East, West)

Facilitate local chapter engagement and activity in their respective regions. Represent regional interests in the national agenda.

  • Demonstrate strong leadership potential and collaborative skills;
  • Are committed to TORG’s mission of improving global surgical care;
  • Can dedicate time and creative energy to voluntary leadership;
  • Have a track record of initiative and service within healthcare or allied sectors.

  • Curriculum Vitae (max 3 pages)
  • Statement of Interest (max 1 page), describing:
    • Your motivation to join the Executive Board
    • Relevant leadership or project-based experience
    • Your vision for the Nigeria Chapter’s growth and impact.
  • A one-page roadmap of your first 6 months in the role if your application is successful.
