Roland embarked on his nursing journey in 2014, and from the very beginning, his passion led him to the operating room department. Throughout his career, Roland’s commitment to advancing his skills and knowledge has been truly commendable. It was during his tenure as an operating room nurse that he was introduced to the fascinating world of Robotic surgery.
Recognizing the transformative potential of this cutting-edge technology, Roland pursued further education, culminating in a master’s degree in perioperative nursing. His thesis, a testament to his dedication, focused on the pivotal role of the Registered Nurse First Assistant—a role that captured Roland’s keen interest.
To broaden his horizons and enhance his skills, Roland journeyed to the UK, where he successfully completed a master’s in surgical care practice, obtaining the necessary qualifications to practice as a Registered Nurse First Assistant. Upon returning to Ireland, Roland’s commitment to excellence and innovation shone through as he played a pivotal role in developing one of the first Advanced Nurse Practitioner First Assistant roles in robotic surgery.
