About the Speaker: Dr. Adel Abou-Mrad

It is a great privilege to introduce our distinguished speaker, Dr. Adel Abou-Mrad, MD, FACS, FICS, an internationally recognized leader in the fields of robotic surgery and bariatric care. With a career spanning more than 30 years, Dr. Abou-Mrad has been instrumental in advancing minimally invasive and robotic surgical techniques, improving patient outcomes, and shaping the future of surgery.

Dr. Abou-Mrad holds a medical degree in general medicine from St. Joseph University in Beirut, Lebanon, where he began his medical journey. He later completed advanced surgical training in France, earning a diploma in general surgery from the University François Rabelais in Tours, as well as specialized diplomas in laparoscopic digestive surgery from the University of Paris Nord and clinical cancerology from the renowned Gustave Roussy Institute, University of Paris Sud.

Currently serving as a Consultant Surgeon and Head of the Robotic Bariatric Surgery Program at the University Hospital Center in Orléans, France, Dr. Abou-Mrad leads a highly specialized team dedicated to providing innovative surgical solutions for complex cases. He has been at the forefront of integrating robotic technology into bariatric surgery, making significant strides in precision, safety, and post-operative recovery for patients.

In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Dr. Abou-Mrad is a dedicated educator, mentor, and researcher. He is actively involved in pioneering clinical trials, including the “BIPASS” and “PreciSURG” studies, aimed at further enhancing surgical techniques and outcomes. His passion for continuous learning and sharing knowledge extends to his leadership in professional societies. Dr. Abou-Mrad is the Founder and President of The Robotic Global Surgical Society (TROGSS), an official partner of the Operating Room Global (TORG) and a global network committed to advancing robotic surgery through education, collaboration, and research.

Dr. Abou-Mrad has held numerous leadership positions in prestigious organizations, including serving as President of the Robotic Council for surgical development at the University Hospital of Orléans, member of the French Society for Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery (SOFFCOMM), and European proctor for bariatric robotic surgery with Intuitive Surgical®. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and the International College of Surgeons (FICS), reflecting his global influence and standing in the medical community.

Beyond his impressive professional achievements, Dr. Abou-Mrad has a deep commitment to patient-centered care. He founded the patient advocacy group “For a Better Life”, dedicated to supporting individuals undergoing obesity treatment. His holistic approach to healthcare emphasizes not only surgical excellence but also empathy, education, and long-term well-being for patients.

A visionary leader and an inspiring speaker, Dr. Abou-Mrad embodies perseverance, innovation, and excellence.
