Each country constitutes a Regional Chapter.

 About The Operating Room Global (TORG): TORG is a non-profit organization committed to improving surgical care globally by providing resources, support, and training to healthcare professionals in underserved areas. We believe that every individual deserves access to safe and effective surgical services, and we work tirelessly to make this a reality. Through collaboration, education, and innovation, TORG aims to enhance surgical outcomes and promote sustainable healthcare systems worldwide.

Joining TORG as a volunteer provides a unique opportunity to contribute your skills, expertise, and passion to various Chapters. We are currently seeking volunteers for the following Regional Chapter Roles:

1. Chapter Chairperson

  • Oversee all chapter activities and ensure alignment with TORG’s global mission.
  • Represent the chapter at regional and international TORG meetings.
  • Set strategic goals for the chapter and monitor their progress.
  • Facilitate regular meetings with the leadership team and members.
  • Act as the primary spokesperson for the chapter.
  • Resolve conflicts and make final decisions on chapter matters.

2. Vice Chairperson

  • Support the Chairperson in overseeing chapter operations.
  • Act as Chairperson in their absence.
  • Coordinate inter-departmental collaboration within the chapter.
  • Ensure the implementation of strategic goals set by the Chairperson.
  • Assist in recruiting and onboarding new members.
  • Monitor the progress of all leadership roles and provide guidance as needed.

3. Special Projects Coordinator

  • Plan and execute specific projects, campaigns, or events for the chapter.
  • Identify local healthcare or educational needs that align with TORG’s mission.
  • Secure necessary resources for project implementation.
  • Collaborate with other coordinators to integrate special projects with overall chapter goals.
  • Provide progress reports to the leadership team.
  • Evaluate project outcomes and identify areas for improvement.

4. Secretary/Public Relations Officer (PRO)

  • Maintain official records of chapter meetings, decisions, and activities.
  • Prepare and distribute meeting agendas and minutes.
  • Develop and maintain the chapter’s public image.
  • Create and distribute press releases and promotional materials.
  • Foster relationships with media outlets and key stakeholders.
  • Address public inquiries and concerns about chapter activities.

5. Membership Coordinator

  • Recruit new members and maintain the chapter’s membership database.
  • Welcome and onboard new members into the chapter as they join the TORG-SL group.
  • Ensure members are engaged and actively participate in chapter activities.
  • Organize networking events to foster collaboration among members.
  • Collect feedback from members to improve chapter operations.
  • Track membership renewals and ensure retention.

6. Social Media Coordinator

  • Manage the chapter’s whatsapp handle and ensures engagement on the group from time to time.
  • Create and schedule regular content to promote chapter activities.
  • Engage with members by responding to comments, messages, and inquiries.
  • Monitor analytics to measure the effectiveness of social media campaigns.
  • Collaborate with the PRO for cohesive messaging.
  • Stay updated on community announcements and shares same to enhance the chapter’s reach.

7. Treasurer

  • Manage the chapter’s finances, including budgeting and expense tracking.
  • Collect and deposit other sources of income.
  • Prepare and present financial reports during leadership meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with TORG’s financial policies and guidelines.
  • Secure funding or sponsorships for chapter activities.
  • Maintain transparent and organized financial records.

8. Events Coordinator

  • Plan and organize chapter events, such as workshops, seminars, and conferences.
  • Secure venues, speakers, and necessary resources for events.
  • Develop event schedules and coordinate logistics.
  • Promote events in collaboration with the Social Media and PRO Coordinators.
  • Evaluate event success and gather participant feedback.
  • Ensure events align with TORG’s mission and goals.

9. Welfare Coordinator

  • Address the welfare needs of chapter members.
  • Coordinate support programs for members experiencing difficulties.
  • Organize initiatives to promote member well-being (e.g., health drives, team-building activities).
  • Maintain regular communication with members to understand their challenges.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive chapter environment.
  • Collaborate with other coordinators to integrate welfare activities into chapter goals.

10. Representative

  • Ensure the chapter’s activities address community needs and priorities.
  • Act as a liaison between the chapter and local communities, organizations, and stakeholders.
  • Represent the chapter at external events and engagements.
  • Advocate for TORG’s mission and initiatives within Sierra Leone.
  • Identify opportunities for partnerships and collaborations.
  • Provide updates to the leadership team about local developments and opportunities.
