Ladies and gentlemen, esteemed members of the TORG audience, it is with great pleasure that we introduce Prof. Dr. John Imaralu, a distinguished medical professional and an expert in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Prof. Imaralu holds an impressive array of qualifications, including an MBChB from Ife, FWACS, FMCOG from Nigeria, MPH from Ife, FMAS, DMAS from India, and an MD from Nigeria.

Currently serving as a Professor at Babcock University and an honorary consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at the Babcock University Teaching Hospital in Ilisan-Remo, Ogun State, Nigeria, Prof. Imaralu has played a pivotal role in advancing the field of gynecological surgery. As the pioneer head of the department, he has actively contributed to the development of frameworks, regulations, and guidelines for professional and academic training of resident doctors and medical students. Thanks to his efforts, the institution has successfully obtained full accreditation status from relevant regulatory bodies.

Prof. Imaralu’s expertise extends to leadership, mentorship, and academic and clinical training, particularly in surgical preceptorship. He specializes in gynecologic surgery and minimal access surgery, where his trainees consistently excel in postgraduate examinations. Notably, he was instrumental in establishing the Endoscopic Surgical Unit at the Babcock University Teaching Hospital in 2016, where advanced operative and diagnostic procedures are now conducted regularly.

As a team lead for the Endoscopic Surgical Unit, Prof. Imaralu coordinates the activities of various departments involved, demonstrating his commitment to the advancement of surgical practices. He is also an examiner at the West African College of Surgeons and an active member of professional organizations such as AGES, AFRH, SOGON, ASRM, among others.

A prolific scholar, Prof. Imaralu has authored over fifty scholarly publications in peer-reviewed journals and books, many of which focus on gynecologic surgery. His dedication to academic excellence is further highlighted by his role as a journal editor and a reviewer for several high-impact journals.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Prof. Imaralu values family life and has a passion for playing table tennis.
